How do I get a library card?
We can sign you up for a library card while you wait. We require photo ID and proof of address. If your driver’s license does not have a local address, please bring a recent piece of mail that has your current address. Utility bills or rental agreements are perfect! We cannot accept junk mail or anything that says “current resident.”
Children can apply for their first library card when they are 6 years old. Parents/guardians assume responsibility for materials signed out by children. Anyone under the age of 16 needs a parent’s or guardian’s signature for a library card.

What is my PIN?
Your PIN is typically the last four digits of the telephone number associated with your account. You can change the PIN yourself by logging into your account on the NCLS catalog, clicking on your name, and then selecting “Edit profile.” You will need to have your library card number handy to log onto your account. Your card number is the number under the barcode on the back of the library card. Enter the number with NO SPACES to log onto your account.
How long can I keep library materials?
We loan out new materials for two weeks. Materials that are no longer considered new have a four week loan period.
DVDs have a one week loan period.
Do you charge late fees?
We no longer charge fees for overdue materials. However, if you lose a book or drop it in your pancake batter (true story!) we typically ask you to provide us with a replacement item, or pay for the cost of the book. Please bring any damaged materials to the library so we can assess them. If the item does not belong to us, we will contact the owning library to find out how they want to proceed.
Interlibrary Loans
Do you want to read a book or borrow a DVD that we don’t have here? That’s easy. We can request it for you via interlibrary loan. We share materials with the other 65 libraries in our system. We get deliveries on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can call us to place a hold for you, or you can do it yourself on the North Country Library System app!
There’s An App For That
The NCLS app is a great tool for keeping track of your checkouts, renewing items, placing holds, and more! In the app store it is called ‘North Country Libraries’.
You will need to know your library card number and your PIN to log into the app. Please call the library at 315-628-5972 if you need help.
eBooks!
Yes, you can access eBooks and eAudiobooks with your library card! You will need to download the Libby app (icon shown below) and have your library card number and PIN ready. (Your PIN should be the last four digits of the phone number associated with your account).
